Finance Coordinator
 
  • Labour hire until August 2027 with scope for 6 months extension

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Coordinator – External Budgets & Capital to play a key role in supporting budget planning, financial management, and capital budgeting activities within a Commonwealth Government environment.
 
In this role, you will provide expert budgeting advice and financial support to internal stakeholders, helping to achieve significant financial management and accounting outcomes. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and relevant budget information, supporting decision-making and organisational objectives.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide budgeting advice and support to business areas, including the development of New Policy Proposal (NPP) costings and supporting documentation.
  • Lead external and capital budget processes, including budget submissions and maintenance of budgets within CBMS.
  • Prepare key budget publications, including Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS), Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements (PAES), and the organisation's Capital Management Plan.
  • Manage government reporting requirements, including budget actuals reporting and coordinated responses to Estimates Memoranda.
  • Provide strategic advice on complex budget and resource management matters, including budget policy, ministerial briefings, Senate Estimates, and ministerial correspondence.
  • Support capability uplift across the finance function through knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring.
  • Drive continuous improvement of budgeting tools, systems, processes, and operating procedures.
 
Skills and Experience
  • Relevant Degree in accounting, commerce or business as well as study towards (or completion of) the CA or CPA Program, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and/or experience in external budgeting, and an understanding of the Australian Government financial framework, financial reporting and budget process.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and communicating financial management advice with a strong focus on business partnering with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite programs and systems such as CBMS.
